High School Students Experience Working In The Performing Arts
At ASU Gammage
On February 21, 20 high school students from Peoria’s Sunrise Mountain High School and Scottsdale’ Horizon High School participated in ASU Gammage’s innovative program “School to Work”.
School to Work is an interactive workshop that highlights potential career choices in arts administration. During the workshop, students interact with ASU Gammage employees and learn what it takes to run one of the top arts presenting theaters in the country. Students spent time shadowing ASU Gammage staff in the box office, marketing, education, accounting and technical production departments. Students also got an exclusive backstage tour of the critically acclaimed Broadway play TWELVE ANGRY MEN starring Richard Thomas by the show’s company manager. After the workshop the students present a final report of the work they performed within their selected department.
