ASU Symphony Orchestra in concert featuring Jeff Anderle, and in collaboration with Music Theatre and Opera in Strauss's "Prologue to Ariadne auf Naxos"
The ASU Symphony Orchestra opens the concert with ASU Music Theatre and Opera in a collaborative presentation of "Prologue to Ariadne auf Naxos" by Richard Strauss. In Ariadne auf Naxos, we experience how a marriage of convenience between high-brow opera and low-brow comedy can succeed. Invention triumphs and harmony prevails.
The second half features works by Louise Farrenc and Manuel de Falla, and faculty guest artist Jeff Anderle, solo bass clarinet, on Michael Torke's "October," in a new version commissioned by ASU Orchestras.
